Welcome to the Forest Issue.

For our 10th issue, we've gone to the Forest. Forests are diverse and multilayered, an important part of food systems across the world. It’s impossible to tell all of these stories, or to capture the breadth of the forest, in one issue, but we wanted to showcase the link between forests and food.

From Canadian maple syrup to Spanish jámon, this is the story of food production inspired by our woodlands. There is also Galician cider, English eau de vie and woodland feasts in Georgia and Sardinia.

One of the things that connects all of these stories is the bind between produce and place, the ways that our landscapes, and particularly our forests, influence the food we make and the food we eat.

The magazine is still free in shops, but ordering or buying directly helps support what we do and helps to make the magazine sustainable, contributing to the cost of design, printing and, most importantly, paying all of our contributors. Price includes UK postage.
